Employee Training, Equipment Inspection and Certifications
Recognizing that in any service organization, our most valuable asset is our personnel, all of our management systems and incentive programs are designed to attract and retain the best employees. We have the following programs in place to achieve this end:
Apprenticeship Programs - The owners and officers of Service One are committed to advancing the issues and concerns in our related industries. Our company is a committee member of the ANSI I-14 Committee, and a Trustee for the joint apprenticeship Training for window cleaning through the Department of Labor and the Chicago Window Cleaners Union, Local One.
Our Safety and Training Program has received praise from customers, employees, and competitors alike. Training starts with management, who must use or test all of the equipment and methods we employ. We have consistent proprietary standards for all our equipment and standard inspection methods for all operations.
Certified Training and Competent Person Training utilizing various training mediums, our employees are thoroughly trained and certified in the latest equipment, and techniques. From HAZ-COM to Aerial lifts to Scaffold rigging and rescue, our employees are professionals who have received formal training from a variety of accredited agencies. These organizations include the International Window Cleaners Association (IWCA), the Scaffold Industry Association (SIA), the Construction Safety Council and the Metal Maintenance Industry Association (MMIA).
Certified Window Cleaners- Pursuant to our mission to provide the best training available to our employees, we are proud to be a charter member of the International Window Cleaners Certification Institute (IWCCI). Tom Trinen, the President of Service One, served as the first Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Institute.
Formed in 2001, the International Window Cleaners Certification Institute provides the parameters, training documentation, on-line testing and certification for both our company (as a trainer) and our employees.
Certification is based on a minimum of three years of documented on-the-job performance with Service One, combined with the knowledge and skills for safe, professional practice. The program is in compliance with established National Safety Standards and Federal Regulations.
OSHA Compliance - Statistics show that the most commonly cited OSHA violation is NOT having a written safety program. Our training program is quite extensive, with written procedures, tests, video training, and a full OSHA HAZ-COM program.
Zero Tolerance - The frequency and comprehensiveness of our safety and training sessions are far above the industry average. We have established a Zero Tolerance policy in regard to certain safety violations, substance abuse and sexual harassment. We require all employees to follow set procedures for all hazardous work.
Employee Benefits - Recognizing that a quality service business is built with excellent employees, we provide the best wages and benefits. Our fringe benefits include 401K Plan, Health, Disability and Life Insurance, paid holidays and vacation to attract and retain the best employees.
